Yoga means oneness, connection, and balance. As a singer and performer, being balanced and fully connected to yourself as an artist is crucial. This important concept is the reason why I sought my yoga teaching certification in 2020.

As musicians practice their instrument every day, the journey toward mastering yoga is one of time and practice. I believe that practicing yoga alongside performance will give you innumerable benefits. 

Practicing yoga focuses your mind, calms your anxieties, and makes you stronger, both physically and mentally. In the modern day opera field - full of stress and competition - physical and emotional balance is more important than ever. 

As a yoga instructor, I focus on the individual needs and levels of each student. With  strong concentration on breath and alignment, I take students through simple sequences that build strength and focus. I start each session with a specific intention to quiet our thoughts and be present in each moment. I end every session with a ten-minute savasana (corpse pose) which allows one to absorb the benefits of the practice before transitioning back to daily life.
